Tesco is to continue the rollout of its new casual dining format, Decks, following the opening of the third site under the format in front of its Extra store in Broadstairs, Kent, and after it called on consumers to let them know where they should open the brand next

It said: “We are looking forward to opening more Decks restaurants across the country, if you would like to see a Decks near you, why not drop us a line and let us know where you would like us to open.”

It first two Decks opened in Arena Park Coventry right next to the Tesco Extra Coventry and at Newport Spytty inside the Tesco Extra. It currently operates c240 Extra stores in the UK highlighting the potential rollout for the concept.

The supermarket group describes the format as a “food brand of our times”.

Decks, which is part of the group’s newly formed Tesco Family Dining division, will cater for consumers from morning to evening and will feature “Deck hosts” manning different food stations similar in style to Toby Carvery.

Led by the company’s commercial director Michael Holmes and developed under the Project Starch name, Tesco says that Decks offers “classic British favourites, from breakfasts and roasts to crumbly cakes served with a proper cuppa”.

Tesco Family Dining is overseeing the development of the group’s eating-out portfolio, which includes Giraffe, Harris + Hoole and Euphorium Bakery.
