SSP UK, the travel concessions operator, has opened the second site under its Beer House concept at London Waterloo.

This is SSP UK’s second Beer House, following the success of the first unit which opened at Charing Cross last year. Two further units will open soon, one at Paddington station in December and one on the current Iron Duke site in London’s Victoria Station.

It is understood that SSP plans to roll the concept out into further London train stations this year and eventually outside the capital.

The Charing Cross bar offers 50 specialised craft bottled beers and 12 draught ales from around the world. All dishes also have beer with food matching recommendations.

The average spend is £10-£12 for a main meal and a drink, or three dishes for £10 on a small plate menu.

SSP UK chief marketing officer Sarah Jezard said: “This brand was developed to capitalise on the growing trend in the market of consumers looking for something interesting and different as the craft beer movement continues to gain momentum.

“With a drinks range to shout about and a great food offer too, The Beer House concept is part of SSP’s continued drive to raise the game both for station pubs and for the local community. It will serve the finest range of beers in the Waterloo area and provide a destination for passengers and local residents alike.”
