Shake Shack, the US better burger brand founded by Danny Meyer, is set to open its first site in the City of London, MCA understands.

The company, which currently seven sites in the capital and one in Cardiff, is believed to be in advanced talks to take space on the ground floor of 45 Cannon Street EC4

The site is located on the corner of Cannon Street and Bow Lane immediately adjacent to the Mansion House Underground Station, in close proximity to St Pauls Cathedral, One New Change and Watling Street.

Speaking to MCA last week, Mark Rosati, culinary director at the group, said it could add a few more UK sites this year, either in London or outside.

Rosati said it was not a question of if, but when the timing was right for new UK sites.

He said the group, which is approaching its fifth anniversary in the UK, was happy to grow at a slower pace than other brands, and spent time finding the best locations.
