The private equity house run by the former Marks & Spencer executives Luc Vandevelde and Roger Holmes has purchased a controlling stake in Rossopomodoro, in a deal that values the Italian restaurant business at €53m (£44.7m) Change Capital plans international expansion for the business, which has three outlets in the UK, in a deal that sees existing backer Quadrivio sell its 47% stake and reinvest for a 7% holding. The restaurant chain was founded in Naples in 1988 and has 113 outlets in Italy and eight overseas. The three founders of Rossopomodoro have a 30% share in the business following the deal. Stephan Lobmeyr, managing director of Change Capital, said today: “We are delighted to have been chosen by the Rossopomodoro team as partners to further develop the business. "We admire greatly what the founders have achieved and share their belief in its considerable international potential. We look forward to working together and making Rossopomodoro a global success story”. Rossopomodro’s parent company is Vesevo.
