Neds Noodle Bar has secured its first franchised site in Southampton’s Marlands Shopping Centre – the first of a planned 10 this year, MCA has learnt.

The first store will be used to trial Neds’ new franchise model, which comes under Neds Noodle Box Developments Ltd, with delivery to be a key element of the new business.

The James Breslaw-led group, which serves Pan Asian noodles and rice boxes, revealed to MCA plans to launch a franchises operation in October 2018, with a target of 100 sites in five years.

Neds is open to single site franchisees, multisite franchisees and development deals

Breslaw told MCA: “Southampton has a great student mix, and we want to try and test the programme out in that location.

“The store will be used to make sure the programme is optimised, and in the meantime behind the scenes a number of plans have been initiated. This includes the operations side, the supply chain, and a business model which can attract single-owner stores, multi-unit and development franchises.

“We believe there are different people in their life cycle – if it’s your first store, that’s fine. It takes a good year to get to grips with the operation. Some people have had their first experience and can do three-five locations.

“More established franchisees – we believe those are the partners we would like to work on a development partnership basis, who can go into an area open stores, and help and develop franchises.”
