AMA Hospitality is in talks to open a site under its Middle Eastern-style, premium casual dining restaurant brand – Maison du Mezze, in London’s Soho, MCA understands.

The company, which is backed by Ayman Abdel Jaber, the founder of the Reem Al Bawadi restaurant business, is understood to have lined up a site at 147-149 Wardour Street for the concept.

Earlier this year, the company launched an informal version of the concept in the Bentall’s Centre in Kingston.

Abdel Jaber, which sold his then seven-strong, Middle East-based Reem Al Bawadi chain to Dubai-listed retailer Marka in 2015 for Dh315m (£66.2m), acquired the former Haagen Dazs unit in Leicester Square to launch the Maison du Mezzé concept in the UK last year.

The restaurant sports a contemporary Arabic look and feel, and seats a minimum of 150 covers inside and a minimum of 60 covers in an outside seating area, bordered with planters and covered by awnings and umbrellas.
