Leaders Club International, an organisation representing the foodservice industry, has named Leon, the upmarket fast-food operator, as the most innovative European restaurant concept. The nine-strong group, founded by Henry Dimbleby and John Vincent, was awarded the Gold Palm at the Leaders Club’s second International Palms ceremony, which was held in London on Friday, Wahaca, the Mexican market eating concept, and Teasmith, the artisan teashop concept, were the two other British businesses nominated for the awards, which included a total of 12 restaurant concepts from eight countries in Europe and Morocco. ZenZen, an organic fast-food concept based in Morocco that was created by Francesco Bongiovanni and Marco Fiorese, won the Silver Palm. Yooji’s, a sushi and sake restaurant chain opened by Hoschgass Gastro in Switzerland, was handed the Bronze Palm. Leaders Club International is a network of 331 foodservice industry leaders, representing more than 4,000 individual businesses all over Europe and Morocco.
