As revealed by M&C Report in August, the Triangle Group has signed the rights to be the chain’s master franchisee in the UK and plans to open between 10 and 15 sites over the next three to five years.

The group’s first site will have 220 covers, and will provide an extra 39 seats on its terrace during the summer.

Amad Humair, operations director for Leon de Bruxelles UK, told M&C Report that the company hoped to open up to eight restaurants in the capital and would also target locations in major cities and towns such as Cambridge and Oxford.

Humair was previously operations manager at Napket, the four-strong boutique café chain.

Founded in 1989, Leon de Bruxelles, which specialises in mussels, fries and beer, currently operates c.60 restaurants in France, plus sites in Belgium, Dubai, Oman, Abu Dhabi and Japan.

The chain, which is majority owned by OFI Private Equity Capital, plans to open another 30 sites in France over the next four years.
