Le Bistrot Pierre, the Livingbridge-backed group, has secured a further opening for this year in the Somerset seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare, MCA has learnt.

The 14-strong group, which also plans to open in Birmingham and Swansea this year, has secured the former Tutto restaurant on the seafront with spectacular views over the sea and grand pier.

The company plans to open the new site in early August after a £900k rebuild with 120-covers on the first floor with a relaxed bar on the ground. It expects the site to be as successful as its other seafront site in Torquay.

The site will open 12 months in advance of the Dolphin Square development in the town.

The company has openings already secured for 2016 in Birmingham’s Gas Street and at the Oyster Wharf development in Mumbles, Swansea.

The £9.8m investment from private equity firm Livingbridge, revealed by MCA at the end of last year, will now accelerate the group’s expansion plans across the UK.

It will look to add five sites a year – four under its core bistro model, plus one under its more bistro, pub with rooms format.

It is understood that the company, which currently generates average weekly turnover of c£30k, believes it has the potential with the right backing to grow to up to 100 sites.
