Kofler & Kompanie – the German contract catering company – is to launch a new ‘urban farm’ concept in the Jetty floating garden in London’s Greenwich next week.
The 80-cover site – plus 40 outside seats and a 400-person-capacity events space ‒ will be the second permanent UK venue for the group, and follows the 2013 opening of its Magazine venue at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery.
Open six days a week from Tuesday to Sunday – including for brunch at the weekends ‒ the menu will centre around simple dishes inspired by the local surroundings. As well as breakfast pastries, lunch, and dinner, it will also serve afternoon tea and cakes.
Dishes will include Salt Baked Sweet Potato with Ricotta and Sprouting Coriander; Scottish Salmon Tabouleh with Baby Spinach and Heritage Tomatoes; and Crispy Fosse Meadow Chicken with coleslaw and dill.
Typical desserts will include Chocolate with Kentish Cherry, and Sea Salt and Preserved Peach, Elderflower and Almond, while afternoon cakes will be along the lines of Courgette and Lime, and Pistachio and Rose.
The drinks menu will offer a selection of cocktails, such as Farmopolis Fizz (thyme-infused limoncello with prosecco and thyme), Peas and Love (with rum, pea-infused cordial, mint and lime juice) and Jett-Tea-Setter (mezcal, pink grapefruit, and rosemary).
The site will also offer a monthly calendar of events, including workshops, talks, yoga, arts and crafts classes and children’s theatre performances by Arcola Theatre.
Eventually the concept hopes to create an urban farm development on nearby reclaimed land, which is set to allow chefs Emmanuel Eger and Felix Weber to create farm-to-table menus and grow herbs, fruits, and vegetables.
