So it’s a Bank Holiday weekend, pay day for many and the last EOTHO on Bank Holiday Monday.
Many of our restaurants and pubs across the UK will be very busy and it seems an opportune moment to remind ourselves of the vital importance of all our places fully supporting NHS Test and Trace.
Why is it so important that hospitality wholeheartedly supports NHS Test and Trace?
Because hospitality offers safe spaces for people to enjoy being with friends and family. Because we are often at the centre of our communities and high streets.
We have a real responsibility to keep our customers, our teams and our communities safe and well. NHS Test and Trace is a powerful way to do just that: collecting and providing the information to help break the chain of transmission and control the virus.
It takes minutes. It helps to save lives and stop further lockdowns. It shows our people and our customers that we are professional, proactive and caring.
It will enhance our reputation. Government will see us as an industry worth supporting because we in turn wholeheartedly support Government initiatives.
We are an industry that prides itself in looking after people – let’s show how well we can do that.
Hospitality is proud to support NHS Test and Trace.
So what do we all need to do everywhere? (by the way, this is the guidance for England. There are some differences for Scotland, Wales and N.I and the links for each are given at the end).
Our Aim
That all pubs and restaurants in the UK demonstrate effective support for NHS Test and Trace by always following the three point plan.
Capture contact details for every customer/party either through reservation info or taking the lead party member details for walk-ins or in the case of individuals, individual details. Details mean Name, Phone Number and Email Address and date and time of arrival.
Explain to all customers that “We support NHS Test and Trace”
Check that parties are only drawn from 2 households (although see below for differences in England/Scotland/Wales).
Most of all – thank you to everyone already doing this beautifully which is the majority of our industry.
Dido Harding, Executive Chair of NHS Test and Trace, had this to say.
“We have been incredibly impressed with the way our hospitality partners have embraced the NHS Test & Trace guidance, to help create safe environments that customers can enjoy, whilst reducing the risks of spreading coronavirus. Logging customer details is essential for NHS Test & Trace to be able to pinpoint any infections and contact those at risk so they can self-isolate and get tested. We count on the hospitality industry as key partners in the fight against coronavirus and thank you for all your continued support”
