David Haimes is believed to have stepped down as group chief executive of Obika, the international mozzarella bar chain, which recently secured its third site in the UK in London’s Fitzrovia, M&C Report understands. Haimes joined the company, which is backed by Neo Capital , in August 2011 after stepping down as managing director of Itsu in February of that year. It is thought that Neo will look to create a more UK-dedicated role for the chain, which also has seven bars in Italy and outlets in Istanbul, Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo and Toronto. The chain is understood to have taken the unit at 11-13 Charlotte Street for an opening later this year, The group launched its first UK site in Canary Wharf at the end of 2011 and opened its second site in the UK in South Kensington last summer. Obika was established in 2004 in Rome by Silvio Ursini, a Naples-born executive with the Bulgari luxury brand.
