Giggling Squid, the Business Growth Fund (BGF)-backed group, has further strengthened its openings pipeline, after securing the former Loch Fyne site in Oxford, MCA understands.

The 29-strong group, which recently opened in Kingston and Harpenden, has taken the site in Walton Street, in the Jericho area of Oxford.

Giggling Squid will open its 30th site in Bishop Stortford before the end of the year. Last month, it secured the former Gusto site in Chislehurst, Kent, for a further opening.

The Oxford site is one of several Loch Fyne restaurant, which owner Greene King has closed or disposed of over the last year.

Earlier this year, it closed sites in Reading and Guildford, whilst also selling sites in Gosforth (Vaulkhard Group), Loughton (Turquoise Kitchen), Hertford (Unique Hospitality), and Beaconsfield (Brunning & Price).

Loch Fyne currently operates 27 sites across the UK.
