Five Guys UK, the better burger brand, plans to open two sites under a smaller format after securing sites in Richmond and on the King’s Road, Chelsea, MCA understands.

The company, which is on course to operate 79 sites by the end of this year, has secured the Urban Diner in Richmond and the BRGR unit on the King’s Road for a more express format.

It is thought that both sites will focus on a greater takeaway element, featuring less seating but without compromising on space for the brand’s production line.

The sale of the site on the King’s Road, leaves Lebanese burger concept BRGR, which launched in the UK in 2012, with one site in Soho’s Wardour Street.

Five Guys plans to open up to 30 new sites across Continental Europe next year, whilst also looking to add 15 to 20 sites in the UK.

The company is believed to have already secured seven of the 15-20 sites it hopes to open here next year.

MCA understands that average payback for a Five Guys site is approximately three and a half years.

The group will open in York, Colchester and Westfield Stratford before the end of the year, which will take the company to 20 openings for the year.

The company recently secured a second site in Nottingham, near the Showcase Cinema in Redfield Way, for its 2018 pipeline.

CDG Leisure acted on the King’s Road deal.
