Five Guys, the better burger brand, has appointed a new UK head of operations and it gears up to open three new sites before the end of the year, MCA has learnt.

The company, which will operate 59 sites in the UK by the year end, said that the appointment of Kaiss Elmadi had strengthened its operational capacity here. Elmadi was previously operation director for Burger King in Germany and a UK operations managers for Yum! Brands.

Co-operations directors and Marcel Khan and Julie Speer continue to have oversight for the UK as well as focusing on growth in recently launched French and Spanish markets.

MCA understands that the company already has 16 sites under offer or in legals for its openings pipeline next year.

Before Christmas it will open in Dudley, Tottenham Court Road and its second site in Milton Keynes in the intu scheme there. It has already secured an opening in the Watermark scheme in Southampton for early next year.

Khan told MCA: “Initial indicators are very encouraging for us in both markets with our handmade, fully customisable burgers and handcut fries finding favour with a lot of eager European burger fans.”
