Gourmet burger delivery concept Chosen Bun is on the hunt for new sites with a ramped up roll-out planned following the acquisition of a second venue.

Co-founder Andy Shovel told M&C he and Pete Sharman want site number two to come imminently and are looking across south and east London for a venue.

Shovel said there is no concrete number of Chosen Buns in the business plans but there are aspirations for “hundreds of sites”.

The first Chosen Bun opened in Fulham in 2013 as a dedicated gourmet burger delivery and food to go service. Shovel and Sharman designed the store to look like it is part of a larger operation as it is intended to be rolled out.

“We think that with food delivery people require more confidence in the operation so we have gone for the approach of trying to let customers know we are serious about their burger delivery rather than trying to make it look like a boutique restaurant.”

Chosen Bun is supported by a number of investors with experience in the food delivery sector who have advised Shovel and Sharman.

The USP of Chosen Bun is its packaging which has been specially designed to ensure food arrives to customers intact. Around 2,000 burgers are sold each week and over the past two years shovel said there has only been one phone call to say the burger did not arrive in a presentable way. This commitment to delivery is extended to the menu design also – recipes that will not transport well do not make it onto the menu, including skinny fries which do not retain heat as well as chunky chips.
