Chop’d is to launch a virtual vegan brand through Deliveroo next Monday, called Vegan Delivered.

The menu will feature eight signature healthy boxes, such as Mushroom Magic – which contains pickled mushrooms, Asian slaw and peanut marinated tofu, and Reverend All Green, which features green beans, edamame beans and avocado. They can also be offered in a wrap format.

In addition, customers will be able to create customised vegan boxes, much the same as they would in Chop’d, managing director Eddie Holmes told MCA.

“We have launched initially with Deliveroo, and it follows a similar format where you can create your own vegan food. It is totally customer driven with a choice of dressings and fresh herbs to add, for example,” he explained.

Holmes said the business was keen not to use products that tried to replicate meat, such as vegan bacon, with the menu to instead be comprised of options such as beetroot burgers and Moroccan koftas and peanut-infused tofu.

The dishes will be prepared in Chop’d kitchens, initially from two sites – one covering West London and one East London, with the view to expand it further if successful, he said.

Separately Chop’d is also understood to have appointed north west-based accountancy firm Cowgills to assess its funding options, with a potential strategic review that could lead to the eventual sale of the business.

Deliveroo has seen a huge increase in the number of orders for vegan dishes over the past few years - up 330%. And over the past year the number of vegan restaurants on the app has increased by 168% making it one of the fastest-growing categories on the platform, said the delivery company on World Vegan Day (1 November).
