Byron, the premium burger restaurant group, has appointed Mike Williams as its new people director.

Williams, who spent nearly three years as director of people development at De Vere’s Village Urban Resorts, replaces Steve Rockey, who left the 48-strong group last year.

Previous to joining De Vere, Williams spent two years as group director of people development at Hotel du Vin and Malmaison.

Byron recently further strengthened its openings pipeline, by securing sites in Derby and High Wycombe.

The group, which will open its 49th site in Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens near the end of this month, is understood to have secured sites in the intu shopping scheme in Derby and the Eden shopping centre in High Wycombe.

The company will open a further site in The Atrium in Camberley, Surrey this spring.

The Tom Byng-led brand has also lined up openings in Chelmsford, Harrogate and a further unit in Manchester, at the new Corn Exchange development, for this year.

The Hutton Collins-backed group has secured further openings in Southampton and Worcester for 2016.
