Burger & Lobster, the Goodman Restaurants-backed concept, has secured its first site in the US, in New York City.

According to reports in the US, the group, which recently secured its sixth site in London, in Little Great Portland Street, will open in a two-story space between Fifth and Sixth avenues in August next year. If successful the group says it will expand the brand into other major US cities.

Co-owner Vladmir Borodin said: “New York City is known worldwide as the premier restaurant city. Combined with New York City’s demographics, we believe it is the perfect fit for Burger & Lobster and for our first location outside of London.”

Parent company Goodman plans to roll out its Burger & Lobster concept across the UK, as well as internationally, in the next couple of years, with a focus on both major and minor cities.

The company will also open sites around the UK, the first of which is most likely to launch in 2015. Manchester, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Dublin are all slated as possible locations, as well as student and tourist towns such as Oxford and Cambridge.

“We believe that the Burger & Lobster experience will be very attractive in all big cities, it is absolutely something which we are going to do,” said George Bukhov, who oversees the group’s international operations, said earlier this summer. “The average spend is £28-£32, which in any city is affordable for many people.”
