Muffin Break is the most expensive high street brand to buy a coffee in with Greggs found to be the cheapest.

That is according to research by Voucherbox.co.uk, which showed Muffin Break’s cappuccino also has the most calories at 216 with Caffe Nero the least calorific at just 27.

The research was carried out by the discount shopping and experiences website analysing coffee in the UK and internationally to find the most expensive and best value drinks.

Comparing the price of a medium cappuccino in 10 high street brands it found prices ranged from £1.73 at Greggs to £2.63 at Muffin Break with an average price of £2.24.

Greggs and was the second most calorific at 121 and all of the other brands’ drinks came in at under 100 calories.

Around the world the most expensive place to drink a cappuccino is Dubai and Hong Kong at £2.94 on average while Istanbul at £1.62 was on average the cheapest city to drink coffee.

London ranked seventh with an average drink costing £2.57.

The price differences by city are exemplified by the stark difference in Starbucks alone; in London the smallest cappuccino is more expensive than the same brand’s largest in Istanbul.
