Wickwar Wessex, the West Country brewery and pub operator, has acquired the Black Swan in Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol on, MCA has learnt.

Wickwar has launched a new food menu and added Wickwar ales to the community pub since acquiring it last month.

It takes the total number of sites to 18 across the South West, with a further two in progress.

The business is owned by former Morland Brewing Co chief executive Mike Watts, and former Avebury Taverns directors Mike Flavin and Ian Frost.

Wickwar has grown from 10 sites in June 2017, with its growth accelerated by the acquisition of the six-strong Cascade pub estate, with a focus on food-led destination village pubs.
