Daniel Thwaites, the Lancashire brewer and pub operator, has confirmed that 25 members of staff in its brewing division have been made redundant or taken voluntary redundancy. In February the firm said it was consulting on job losses in response to the loss of a number of packaging contracts and increased customer pressure to reduce costs. Under the plan, 25 jobs would be lost from the brewing and tanking room, packaging, warehousing, planning, engineering and management teams. Steve Magnall, managing director of Thwaites Beer Company, told M&C Report in a statement today: “Further to the announcement we made earlier this year regarding restructuring our operations, following a period of consultation we can now confirm that 15 members of staff have taken voluntary redundancy with a further ten compulsory redundancies. “We’re working with an outsourcing company to help those affected and it is expected that the changes will be complete by the end of June.” In total 83 members of staff were involved in the consultation process and, as expected, 58 have retained their jobs.
