The Alchemist, the Palatine Private Equity-backed cocktail bar and restaurant concept, is launch is first suburban site in Alderley Edge later this year.

The five-strong group, which has openings lined up in Liverpool, Birmingham and Newcastle, will open in October on the site where Grill on the Edge is currently situated.

Grill on the Edge will close its doors on Tuesday 31May and work will commence on an extensive refurbishment.

Simon Potts, managing director of The Alchemist said: “We’re delighted to be creating a suburban vision of The Alchemist and feel that Alderley Edge, a village we’ve known and loved at Living Ventures for many years, will be the perfect place to continue our exciting expansion plans. We believe that the casual all day restaurant element of the business; serving brunch, lunch and dinner alongside our beautifully crafted cocktails, will be a perfect fit for the village and look forward to welcoming guests later this summer.”

The Alchemist today is a stand-alone business under the Living Ventures’ umbrella. It has five sites nationwide (two in Manchester, two in Leeds and one in London) with a turnover of £11m in the last financial year, and employing over 250 people.

Its Liverpool site – at the former Noble House site in the city’s Brunswick Street, is set to open in June.

It has lined up two further openings in Manchester – at Media City and at the £50m redevelopment of Manchester Business School, for the coming 18 months.
