Tesco, the supermarket giant, is poised to acquire the former Courage brewery site just outside Reading from Heineken. A report in this morning's Times suggests the company plans to build a 700,000sq ft distribution centre on the 58-acres site and will probably have to pay around £750,000 an acre – a total of £40m. The former courage brewery once produced more than a billion pints a year of Kronenbourg and Foster's.
