Stonegate Pub Company, the TDR Capital-backed, managed operator, has further strengthened its presence in London, with the acquisition of the three-strong Large Bars business, MCA has learnt.
Large Bars was owned by Sarj and Anita Chotai and its three-strong portfolio included the Angelic gastropub in Liverpool Road, Islington.
The group was founded by Sarj Chotai and Lee Bradshaw, who was previously involved in the operation of Pitcher & Piano and the Slug & Lettuce.
It previously operated The Priory in Clerkenwell, but sold it to Capital Pub Company in 2011.
A Stonegate spokesperson told MCA: “This is a small bolt-on acquisition of three sites. Stonegate is always looking for opportunities to grow as you would expect from an ambitious forward looking Company.”
In February, Stonegate acquired three London pubs from Faucet Inn for an undisclosed sum.
The group exchanged on the Catcher in the Rye, Finchley; the College Arms, Fitzrovia and Compton’s Soho, London, in a deal brokered by Coffer Corporate Leisure.
Following the acquisition, Stonegate will comprise c700 operating venues. It follows the acquisition of Walkabout operator Intertain in December in a deal vauled at £39.5m and 10 JD Wetherspoon pubs in September
Davis Coffer Lyons is understood to have acted on the Large Bars deal.
