Shepherd Neame has appointed Nigel Bunting to the board as retail director, with effect from today. Bunting is currently trade operations manager, having held various sales and management positions in the company since he joined in 1993. The group also announced that Mark McJennett, the company’s sales and marketing director, has ceased to be a director of the company with effect from today. McJennett joined the board in March 2000 and has been with Shepherd Neame since 1991. A search for his replacement is underway. Bobby Neame, the company’s chairman, said: "We would like to welcome Nigel to the board. I am confident that he will make a significant contribution to the company going forward. "Mark has been a valuable member of the Board in the last five years and I would personally like to thank him for his contribution, in particular for his help in developing Spitfire ale. Thanks also go to Malcolm, who has been a highly valued member of the board since joining the company in 1999." In addition, Malcolm Kimmins will be stepping down from the board at this year's AGM in October having completed six years as a non-executive director of the company. At the AGM, the board will propose Oliver Barnes to replace him, subject to shareholder approval. Oliver is a partner in the City law firm Travers Smith.
