The Reuben brothers have apparently signed a £400m deal to buy The Wellington Pub Company from Hugh Osmond.
The billionaire private investors fought off competition from leisure entrepreneur Trevor Hemmings, who owns the Pontin’s holiday camp chain and Blackpool Tower, and from Iranian tycoon Robert Tchenguiz.
Wellington owns 840 tenanted pubs, mostly in southern England.
