Punch is to spend £350,000 on the refurbishment of The Dulais Rock at Aberdulais near Neath.
The 17th century site will be split into three areas, all furnished with antique wood, leather furniture and open fires.
John Peace, the pub’s new licensee, said: "The Dulais Rock is a magnificent old inn, which with this significant investment and great staff will once again be a real asset to the local community."
