Punch Taverns has reminded licensees that it is offering help with implementation of the new allergen laws.

On 13 December the EU Food Information Regulation no. 1169/2011 will come into effect, meaning pubs must be able to provide any customer with the allergenic information of all the dishes that are served.

In response to the introduction of the new regulation, Punch has put together a Food Allergens Information Pack including a detailed guide on the law, an allergens sample data sheet and posters.

As well as being available to licensees online on the Punch Buying Club, a hard copy has also been sent in the post to every licensee. Reminders will be sent in the company’s e-newsletter in the run up to the deadline.

Punch has also teamed up with CaterCost’s Ali Carter who is running two workshops for licensees.

Punch’s head of catering development, Alan Todd, said: “All pubs serving food need to take action now and ensure they are compliant in time for the regulation change. We have been sending out information and communicating with our licensees for some time now to ensure they are informed of what they need to do.

“All of our team of catering development managers, nationally, are available to advise and support our licensees with all the resources and support we have available.”
