A group of protesters have filed a lawsuit aimed at stemming the rise of "superclubs" in New York.
They are seeking to overturn a 1926 ordinance that forbids dancing in clubs that do not have a cabaret licence.
They saw the law is discriminatory against clubs that cannot afford the licence.
