Noble House, which runs the Jim Thompson's oriental bar and restaurant chain, has launched what it is calling "a new pub concept" under the name Thai Pad. Thai Pad is described as a British pub with a Thai restaurant, a concept familiar to customers of several pubs run by the West London brewer Fuller, Smith & Turner. Noble House says that Thai Pad, unlike its Jim Thompson's outlets, has a bar menu that includes both Oriental and English specialities. The first Thai Pad has been opened in the former Jim Thompson's unit in Putney, London, It also claims to be the first outlet to offer a new range of wine created by the Oriental celebrity chef Ken Hom to accompany Thai, Chinese and other Far Eastern food. Noble House said if the Thai Pad idea is successful, it could be rolled out to other locations.
