Danish craft brewer, Mikkeller, is already searching for a second UK site after securing its debut in the country – in Shoreditch.

The group, which operates 35 venues globally, is eyeing sites across London both for bar and brew pubs. For the former, it is seeking sites 2,500 sq ft plus, while the brew pubs would require more than 3,500 sq ft.

Yesterday the group announced it will open its first UK site in October. The address was not revealed, but it is thought to be the former George & Dragon, on Hackney Road.

Chief executive and founder, Mikkel Borg Bjergsø, said: “We have finally found a fantastic location in the Shoreditch district that suits us perfectly. Meanwhile, we have been fortunate to get to know Rick Astley and his wife Lene Bausager Astley, so now we have also found the perfect partners.”

Savills acted on the deal and have been retained by Mikkeller for future acquisitions.
