Marston’s, the brewer and pub operator, has placed a package of 26 pubs on the market with Sidney Phillips, M&C Report has learnt.

The sites are located mostly in the Worcestershire and South Wales areas. Twenty pubs are being marketed for offers invited and the remaining six have guide prices between about £200,000 and £400,000.

Speaking to M&C Report in October, Marston’s chief executive Ralph Findlay said the company hopes to sell up to 400 pubs over the next two years and is seeing increased interest in its sites recently due to an apparent upturn in the property market.

The company said it planned to implement a “more aggressive churn of the estate” after selling 130 pubs in the year to 5 October. It wants to achieve disposal proceeds of £60-70m for FY 2014.

Last month Marston’s announced that it had disposed of 202 pubs for £90m to NewRiver Retail Limited, a specialist REIT focused on the UK food and value retail sector, which intends to convert the portfolio to alternative uses.
