Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) will open a site under its steakhouse concept Miller & Carter (M&C) next March in Manchester, as it looks to increase the brand’s presence in city centres, M&C Report understands.

The group, which will open the 30th M&C site in Bath next month, has secured the former Lloyds bank unit in the city’s Kings Street.

Earlier this summer, Alistair Darby, M&B chief executive, told M&C Report that the company is ready to put its shoulder behind its steakhouse concept as it looks to grow the brand’s pipeline.

It opened the first city centre site under the brand last February in The Light development, Leeds.

The expansion of M&C is part of the company’s capital expenditure on its formats in the special occasion dining segment that the group values at £22bn.

M&B has previously said it would look to grow Miller & Carter to a 50-strong estate.

It recently opened the 29th site under the format on the site of the former Nolita restaurant in Brookman’s Park, Hertfordshire.

The concept specialises in premium steaks and grilled meats.
