The Lombard column, in the Financial Times, awards Compass one of its “sinner awards” for 2005. Writer Martin Dickinson recalls what a dismal year it has been for Mike Bailey, who will be stepping down as chief executive of the contract caterer after several profit warnings. Dickinson notes that the contract caterer is embroiled in allegations of corrupt buying practices at the United Nations. He says the company’s sinner award should be Turkey Twizzlers which the company used to serve up to school children. The Daily Telegraph says Compass investors hope a new chief executive will arrive soon to steer the business in the right direction.
