JD Wetherspoon has said it will open eight pubs and a hotel in the next six weeks with another hotel to follow in the autumn.

The first of the glut of openings will be The Booking Office pub at Edinburgh’s Waverley train station on Tuesday (June 14).

Between June 14 and July 19 JDW will then open pubs in Newton le Willows and Formby in Merseyside; Largs in North Ayshire; Northolt in north west London; Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire; Chatham in Kent and Okehampton in Devon.

A hotel will also open at the Northolt pub and a further hotel will open, in September, alongside the Huntingdon pub.

The company set a target of 15 new openings in this financial year. Last month the company put a further 33 pubs on the market after putting 50 up for sale last summer.

Wetherspoon chief executive, John Hutson said: “ We are looking forward to opening our new pubs and hotels, a number of which are in towns where we are not yet represented.”
