Punch Taverns’ recently appointed chief executive Duncan Garrood has announced a re-structure aimed at driving future plans and maximising potential across the pubco’s estate.

Among the changes are the appointment of David Wigham as development director after six years as operations director.

M&C understands the role will see Wigham take charge of the company’s fledgling concepts, such as the wet-led community pub model Mighty Local and sports bar Champs.

A number of other new roles have also been created.

Garrood said: “As we plan ahead for our future in an ever-changing environment, we have re-focused our organisational structure with the emphasis on delivering results through a high quality pub estate, providing support so that we are delivering the best experiences for our pub customers and developing and driving our future plans. As a result, some new roles have been created.

“Further clarity on the organisation and our way forward will be shared at our results presentation in November.”

This morning Punch announced the sale of 158 pubs to NewRiver Retail.
