Draft House, the Charlie McVeigh-led craft beer pub operator, is close to a sale of one of the six Grand Union sites its acquired last summer, MCA understands.

The site, just off Chancery Lane, closed after Christmas and has been on the market ever since.

McVeigh told MCA that it was always likely the site would be sold as it was close to the Draft House Chancery pub and its layout made it unsuited to the core model.

He said there had been strong expressions of interest and a sale was expected in the coming weeks.

McVeigh reiterated that he was pleased with progress on the conversion of the remaining Grand Union sites and expected to return the acquisition trail in the second half of this year.

The 15-strong operator reported like-for-like sales up 5.9% in the four weeks to 31 December.
