Amber Taverns is putting up dartboards in all its pubs in response to a surge in demand created by darts sensation Luke Littler.

The 171-strong pub company will include a darts area in all its pub refurbishments, according to chief executive James Baer.

“Darts doesn’t sound the most glamorous or exciting thing, but, with the interest generated by Luke Littler, there had been a real take-up of darts,” Baer said. “It’s another reason to come to the pub,” he told The Times.

Amber Taverns recently reported strong trading over the festive period across its pub portfolio, with like-for-like sales up 20%.

The Blackpool based community pub operator said all of its recently opened sites performed ahead of expectations, underpinning its confidence in the robustness of its model with well-invested sites, a value offer, and motivated operators.

The group is targeting 185 sites by the end of 2024.

It has also recently completed on another four sites in Derby and Bridgend, as well as Airdrie and Motherwell in Scotland – locations where the company is not yet represented.

In addition to ongoing organic investment in the existing estate, it continues to build a pipeline with the goal of adding c15 new pubs to the portfolio each year.
