The best operations managers in the pub trade have been revealed.
Winners of the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR) Operations Managers Awards were announced at the ALMR's Christmas Luncheon yesterday.
The area manager category was won by Anthony Davies of McMullen & Sons.
Davies is responsible for McMullen's 14-strong Destination Food Group, plus a hotel in Hertford. He was praised for having "an excellent grasp of every aspect of his outlets".
Carolyn Matthews, area business manager at Daniel Thwaites, was named business development manager (BDM) of the year.
Judges said she had the "perfect blend of pragmatism, professionalism and passion".
The BDM rising star award went to Daniel Wilkinson of Greene King Pub Partners, whose patch covers 51 venues in north London, Herfordshire and Bedfordshire. Wilkinson joined Greene King from Punch, where he was regional manager, in November.
Meanwhile, a raffle at the ALMR event raised £18,030 for the Licensed Trade Charity.
