The freehold of the Wolseley, the award-winning restaurant run by Chris Corbin amd Jeremy King - former owners of The Ivy - has been sold to a private Irish investor for more than £11m. The 11,300sq ft property on London's Piccadilly, was sold by property group Lonworld. It is let to The Wolseley on a 25-year lease at £475,000 per annum from July 2003. The building was originally designed as a car showroom for the Wolseley Motor Car Company in 1922 and later operated as a branch of Barclays Bank. The restaurant was named London Restaurant of the Year at the Harpers & Moet Restaurant Awards last November. Alan Matthews of Savills said that within the past six months Northern Irish investors had acquired a significant amount of property in central London.
