Simon Wilkinson, the former chief executive of La Tasca, has joined Parkdean Resorts, overseeing the company’s retail operations.

Wilkinson, who spent the summer working with the Carlyle Group on deals as designate chief executive of Prezzo and Gaucho in their ultimately unsuccessful attempts to take control of the businesses, is thought to be working with Parkdean on an interim basis.

He is understood to be assisting chief executive John Waterworth on special projects for the next few months.

Wilkinson stepped back from Casual Dining Group, where he was managing director – strategic development – at the start of the year. He joined CDG after its c£25m takeover of La Tasca at the end of 2015, became managing director of Café Rouge and Belgo in June 2016.

Parkdean operates 67 holiday parks across the United Kingdom.
