Rebecca McGuire, the founder of Yog, has stepped down as head of marketing at Smashburger to join PizzaExpress as a marketing controller.
McGuire joined the US better burger brand, which made its debut in the UK in Milton Keynes earlier this year, in April 2015.
She was previously head of marketing at Crepeaffaire.
She co-founder frozen yoghurt concept Yog in 2008 and acted as its marketing director, before stepping down in 2014.
In May, Smashburger unveiled a pipeline of five UK sites to open over the next 12 months following its launch in Milton Keynes.
US better burger chain has secured the former Mucho Burrito site in Brighton’s North Street, which will open over two floors next month.
It will also open in Newcastle, Glasgow, Bath and Wednesbury in the West Midlands, as part of its long-term aim of opening 35 UK sites in the next few years.
