The Hero Brands owned business has appointed Kevin Giudici as its new finance director.

He was previously managing director at Harviestoun Brewery in Clackmannanshire, and before that group financial controller at Highland Spring.

GDK has made several senior appointments over the past few months, with Dr Thorsk Westphal joining as chief marketing officer and Deon Pillay as its new chief procurement and sustainability officer, as the business looks to open 106 restaurants globally in 2022.

Imran Sayeed, CEO of GDK International said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Kevin to the GDK family.

“He has consistently delivered outstanding results throughout his career and is a proven finance professional with exemplary strategy, management and forecasting expertise.

“He will be instrumental in elevating our finance infrastructure as we further reinforce GDK as a game-changing brand across global regions.”

Giudici added: “GDK’s global ambitions perfectly aligns with the type of scale-up work that I enjoy and I cannot wait to get started and help push the brand to the forefront of the global market as the fast-casual brand of the future.”

In July it was also revealed that GDK’s owner Hero Brands was planning to float on the New York Stock Exchange in the next three to five years.

The Glasgow-based Hero Brands, which also owns Island Poké and the salad restaurant Choppaluna, plans to open 223 sites by the end of this year, bringing its total to 400.

The majority of the openings will be under the GDK brand across the UK, Middle East and North America, with plans to open 106 new GDK restaurants, 14 Choppaluna sites, and 19 Island Poké.
