Chestnut Group has appointed Garrath Fulford as its new chief financial officer, and Ted Child as head of finance, as it continues its expansion.

Fulford joined the East Anglian pub, inn and restaurant group this month from NatWest Markets where he was chief operating officer.

Fulford has significant experience working in the financial sector with previous roles at RBS, JP Morgan Chase & Co and UBS.

While Child will join Chestnut at the end of January. He has spent the past 13 years working in the pub industry, including finance roles at Greene King and Punch Pubs.

The business said the new appointments were seen as key additions ahead of delivering its strategy for growth over the next 24 months, through acquisitions and new technology.

Chestnut also announced the acquisition of a new 10-bedroom site in Wells-Next-The-Sea – The Globe Inn.

“These two appointments are a cornerstone in our plans for future growth and we are delighted to welcome both Garrath and Ted to the Chestnut team,” founder and chief Executive Philip Turner said.

“Over the last five years our business has really grown-up, moving from a handful of local inns and pubs to a strong collection of properties across the Eastern region.

He added: “During the last 18-months we have been building a team capable of sustaining and accelerating that growth, and the corporate finance and industry experience Garrath and Ted bring will be an invaluable addition.”

The 16-site group recently promoted former Bill’s head of people Charley O’Toole from head of people to people director.
