Former chief executive of EAT Andrew Walker has joined the board of all-day London eatery Farmer J as a non-executive director.

Founded by Jonathan Recanati, and backed by Imbiba, Farmer J is a finalist in the Emerging Concept category in MCA’s Retailer’s Retailer of the Year Awards.

It currently has four sites but has shifted in the most part to a digital model during the pandemic, via click and collect and delivery.

Walker left his role at EAT in September 2019, after the business was acquired by Pret in a deal valued at around £60m.

After he left EAT, Walker joined retail management systems company Platopus Retail where he was chairman for a year. He is currently an advisor at fintech company Flux and also a non-executive director at Java House Africa.
