Vagabond’s upcoming Canary Wharf site is to open within 25 Cabot Square, MCA understands.

The Imbiba-backed wine bar concept had previously spoken about an opening in the financial district, but a licensing application, submitted to Tower Hamlets council, has revealed the site is located within the 17-floor office building, which houses Morgan Stanley, and is being redeveloped by property company Hines.

The business, which opened its sixth wine bar in Paddington in June, is understood to have another three London sites lined up, in addition to the Canary Wharf unit, which would take its London total to 10.

Earlier this year, founder Stephen Finch told MCA that following its London openings Vagabond would begin a regional rollout, targeting major UK cities, as well as international locations.

“That’s not to say London’s done, but then we will shift to expansion outside the city,” he said.

Finch said its Paddington and Canary Wharf locations would trial an all-day offer, with speciality coffee, breakfast food and non-alcoholic drinks. The breakfast menu includes plates such as shakshuka, French toast with berries and smashed avocado on toast.

Vagabond received £3.5m in new funding from Imbiba last summer and has recently strengthened its senior team in anticipation of expansion. Appointments Keiron Sherlock as a property adviser, Nicholas Gaillot as director of operations, and Riette Carter as head of people and culture.
