Joanne Entwisle, the actress who appears in a Portman Group cinema advertisement promoting sensible drinking, as admitted to being a binge drinker in the past. She said in real life she had drunk more than three times the recommended weekly limit “for a period last summer” but had not viewed her drinking habits as out of the ordinary. Entwisle said she regretted any embarrassment that the revelations may have caused. The Portman Group said the advert, in which Entwisle vomits in a nightclub lavatory and falls in the gutter after heavy drinking, had been well received and seemed to have had an impact.
