Fast food chain Cheatmeals is opening its 10th site on the corner of London’s Old Compton Street and Moor Street later this year. The group, which primarily operates in London neighbourhoods, specialises in burgers, bagels, hot dogs, and milkshakes.

London Shell Co. will launch its first permanent land-based site near Hampstead Heath this month. The group currently operates two floating barge restaurants, The Grand Duchess and The Prince Regent, on the Grand Union Canal.

The new venue will seat c30 covers and operate as a seafood-focused restaurant, fishmonger, and off-trade wine shop.

Restaurateur Sam Harrison, who operates Sam’s Riverside in Hammersmith, will open a new café in the area after Easter. Sam’s Kitchen will serve coffee, juices, and classic breakfast and lunch dishes inspired by Australian brunch culture.

 

Winglab, Camden

Winglab

Wing specialist Winglab will open its second London site in Camden Lock Place this month. It will serve an ‘elevated’ menu comprising wings and tenders in a variety of flavours, as well as burgers, sides, and waffles.

 

The Freak Scene, Parsons Green

Ex-Nobu pan-Asian chef Scott Hallsworth will open The Freak Scene to London’s Fulham on 22 March. Initially launched as a pop-up in Farringdon in 2018, the 46-cover restaurant in Parsons Green will serve seasonal sushi and sashimi as well as fish dishes based on the catch of the day.

It will also have Asian plates, including Singapore chili crab wonton bombs, cabbage with dried miso truggle and ponzu, salmon sashimi pizza, and miso-grilled aubergine.

 

Chishuru, Oxford Circus

Award-winning West African restaurant Chishuru, originally based in Brixton, will relocate to Oxford Circus this summer. The new two-floor site will have c50 covers and feature an open kitchen, serving its menu combining unique spices and West African flavours and techniques.

 

Nord, Liverpool

Liverpool-based operator GSG Hospitality, in partnership with chef Daniel Heffy, will open a relaxed dining concept at the Plaza in Liverpool. The restaurant will focus on regional produce and highlight locally sourced ingredients prepared in a contemporary way.

 

Joia, Battersea Power Station

Two Michelin-starred Portuguese chef Henrique Sa Passoa has opened an Iberian restaurant and bar at London’s Battersea Power Station. The two-floor, 85-cover venue serves petiscos, tapas, and larger dishes, with a wine list featuring Portuguese and Spanish wines.
