Mark Crowther, chief executive of Jersey-based pub and drinks business Liberation Group, has said he’d “love” to buy sites in mainland UK.

The firm currently operates 69 sites and its most recent pub acquisitions, of three outlets, were in 2010.

In an interview with The Publican’s Morning Advertiser, sister title to M&C Report, Crowther said: “There are acquisition opportunities here [in the Channel islands] through individual sites, for managed and tenancy. We’ve only got 10% of the on-licences on Jersey.”

He added: “We’ve grown every year for four years and we’re still growing. Part of that comes from what we’ve done to the business. We have predictable cash flows, we’ve paid off our debt and we have financial backing.

“We can use that as a base to go into the mainland, and perhaps acquire another business like this one that fits what we’re doing. I’d love to add something in the UK.”
